The Association for Communication and Advertising (ACA) is pleased to announce that the 2015 APEX awards season is officially open. Entry into the prestigious APEX awards is exclusive to agencies that are registered members of the ACA and their clients. The deadline for entries is the 28th28th March 2015. Winners will be announced at the annual gala event that will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg during July 2015.
The annual APEX Awards is hosted by the ACA with key partners SABC and the Sandton Convention Centre. Brand barons and marketing moguls are invited to enter their most effective communications campaigns that not only met but exceeded objectives and worked hard to deliver measured, tangible results. APEX recognises, showcases and celebrates those client and agency teams and their communications campaigns that are effective, best of breed and trend setting.
"Winning a highly coveted APEX is the ultimate validation of effectiveness for client and agency teams because it is affirms successful teamwork and demonstrates that the work produced by the team not only delivered results but exceeded expectations and more than delivered on the set objectives to achieve a healthy return on investment. An APEX represents both strategic and creative effectiveness which positions winners as being leaders of the profession that is constantly evolving and redefining creativity and effectiveness, explains Odette van der Haar, ACA.
"The APEX awards is not just an awards program that awards trophies without making a constructive contribution to transforming the profession. In recognition of the fact that talent is the heartbeat of the business, the program identifies deserving tertiary education students from the industry's official trade school - the AAA School of Advertising which is the "Birthplace of Brilliant" and awards much needed bursaries to PDI students," concludes van der Haar.
Winning an APEX is not easy. The standard is high and will not be compromised. This is of particular importance given the current economic climate where delivering a return on investment is mandatory for survival as a marketeer or agency. In order to win an APEX, entrants are required to provide sound evidence of their communications campaigns' results and in doing so, demonstrate that all possible factors that could have contributed to the results of the campaign other than the campaign itself such as discounted pricing, seasonality, competitor activity and so on - have been discounted, leaving only the campaign itself to have caused the results achieved.
Compulsory briefing sessions will be held in Johannesburg on the 28th of January 2015 and in Cape Town on the 2nd of February 2015 to guide entrants on how to enter the awards program, how to compile winning case studies, how to isolate factors that contribute to communications campaigns' success and most importantly, members of the 2015 Jury will share what they will be looking for when adjudicating entries. Issues pertaining to confidentiality of data will also be discussed - it is therefore worthwhile for agencies to bring their clients to the briefing sessions. The categories into which member agencies and their clients can enter the APEX awards are:
Launch for brands or services that are less than 12 months old with no significant history of advertising.
Change for new campaigns from previously advertised brands that resulted in significant short-term effects on sales and/or behaviour short-term being within a period of no more than 18 months.
Sustain for campaigns that benefited a business by maintaining or strengthening a brand over a long period, i.e. 36 months.
