The Importance of Breakfast to Power-Up Your Day

26 Feb 2015

McDonald’s Celebrates National Breakfast Day with their annual Egg McMuffin Give-Away
Have you ever experienced irritability, lethargy and poor concentration at around 10:00 or 11:00 am? According to Nutritional Therapist, Nicci Robertson this typically comes from not eating a balanced range of nutrients for breakfast, or skipping breakfast altogether.
“Getting into the habit of eating breakfast creates stable body and brain chemistry. Those who make a point of eating a good breakfast containing protein, healthy fats and carbohydrates tend to be more aware of their food choices and make time for healthy meals throughout the day,” says Robertson.
Start Your Day the Delicious Way
Breakfast, in all its delicious goodness, will take centre stage as McDonald’s celebrates National Breakfast Day (#McDBreakfastDay) and pays tribute to the most important meal of the day for the third consecutive year. Taking place on March 9th, 2015, some 217 McDonald’s restaurants across the country will each give away an incredible 1000 Egg McMuffins, so that on National Breakfast Day patrons are given good reason to start their day right with breakfast.

“It’s a well-known fact that a good breakfast is one of the key foundations for a productive life. It improves our mental and physical capabilities, as well as our mood and overall sense of wellbeing. At McDonald’s we feel that if breakfast is the most important meal of the day, why shouldn’t we pay homage to this delicious morning meal? National Breakfast Day is a celebration of the goodness of breakfast and a reminder to all South Africans about the importance of breakfast to power up their days’,” says McDonald’s Senior Marketing Director, Daniel Padiachy.
In Honour of Breakfast
National Breakfast Day was initiated by McDonald’s in 2013, and is the first and biggest regional breakfast giveaway across Asia, Middle East and Africa. Back by popular demand for the third time, McDonald’s is giving away up to 1000 Free Egg McMuffins per restaurant during specific breakfast hours, on a first-come-first-served basis.
