IAS Judge at AMEP Awards

No strangers to being called on to judge marketing industry awards, the specialist intermediaries at South African Independent Agency Search and Selection company (IAS) again spread their wings to participate in the recent international AMEP (Mozambican Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations Association) awards held in Maputo between 8 and 11 September 2015.

Nikki Munsie, the company’s business development director was chosen to be one of the judges at this prestigious event. She was joined by fellow South Africans Glenn Jeffery, Creative Director of Grey Advertising and Wihan Meerholz, Creative Director from Ireland Davenport.  

The glitzy event hosted a wide range of agencies from countries such as Angola, Argentina, Botswana, Brazil, Cape Verde, England, France, Kenya, Mauritius, Mexico, Mozambique, Namibia, Portugal and Zimbabwe.

The Advertising Festival which was held for the 10th edition is organised by AMEP which owns the registered name. IAS was also one of the original judges in the first festival in 2006 – the event has grown substantially since then.

The festival covered the following categories:
  • TV
  • Cinema
  • Radio
  • Print/Poster/Billboard and the Internet.
The AMEP was founded in 1980 as the first advertising industry association created in the country after independence. It is a voluntary membership association presently representing about 30 members from all Marketing and Communication sectors.

The purpose of the festival is to promote advertising activity, through recognition of the quality of the advertising and institutional work exhibited and expressed, rewarding those which, because of their creativity and originality, are contributing to the development of the international advertising market.

It is open to all advertising agencies and producers from any country.

There were two categories of Awards - the Shell Awards and the Technical Awards. The rationale for works submitted in the competition were advertising of producer and consumer goods, services, companies or institutions.

Work which was created and was proved to have been displayed between October 1, 2014 and July 31, 2015 was accepted. The competitors authorised the organisers to publicly display the materials submitted. The works were submitted to the competition, through payment of the respective fee, between August 1 and 15, 2015. 

The works were judged by an International Jury, chaired by a Communication professional of recognized prestige and consisting of 10 practicing Communication professionals, making a total of 11 members.

The selection of works awarded the prizes were voted on, and the Jury chose, by consensus, the best methods and mechanisms for voting.

The voting led to awarding the Golden Shell, Silver Shell and Bronze Shell prizes for each of the different media. There will later be a vote on the Grand Prize for each medium, chosen from among the Golden Shells awarded.

The program of 10th Festival included a series of lectures, exhibitions and a book fair with titles of Marketing and Communication areas.
